All-on-X Dental Implants in Morris Plains, NJ
Full-arch tooth replacement with dental implants.
Losing all or most of your teeth in one arch doesn’t mean you have to live with removable dentures for the rest of your life. All-on-X treatment anchors a full arch of fixed replacement teeth to a small number of strategically placed implants, giving you teeth that function and feel like your own. If you’re missing most or all of your teeth on the top, bottom, or both, this approach may restore your bite, your confidence, and your ability to eat the foods you enjoy.
At Morris Plains Center for Dentistry, we understand how disruptive missing teeth can be to your daily life. That is why Dr. Joshua Bagley and our team walk you through every stage of dental implant treatment, including your All-on-X options, from your first consultation through your final restoration, so you always know what to expect.
The All-on-4 technique replaces an entire arch of teeth using just four implants. Two implants are placed straight in the front of the jaw, and two are angled toward the back to take advantage of denser bone, often without a bone graft. This positioning lets the implants support a full fixed bridge, even in patients with some bone loss.
Because All-on-4 uses fewer implants, it can be a practical option for patients who want a fixed solution but may not have enough bone volume for a higher implant count without additional grafting procedures. Fewer surgical sites can also mean a more efficient procedure and a more predictable recovery for many patients.
Long-term data support the durability of this approach. A retrospective study that followed patients for 20 to 25 years after receiving All-on-4 treatment found strong implant and prosthesis survival rates over that extended period. That kind of longevity reflects why All-on-4 has become one of the most researched full-arch protocols in modern implant dentistry.
All-on-6 follows the same fixed-bridge concept but distributes the bite across six implants instead of four. Spreading the load across more implants can provide additional stability, which may benefit patients with higher bite forces or those who want extra support built into the foundation of their new arch.
This option often suits patients who have sufficient bone density to support additional implants without extensive grafting. Six implants can also give your restoration more design flexibility, since the additional support points allow the arch to distribute chewing pressure more evenly across the jaw.
Choosing between All-on-4 and All-on-6 comes down to your bone structure, your bite pattern, and your long-term goals for the restoration. We evaluate these factors carefully with 3D imaging before recommending either protocol.
Most patients missing most or all of their teeth in an arch, or with failing teeth that cannot be saved, may be candidates for All-on-X treatment. Common situations include long-term denture wearers who are tired of slipping plates, patients with advanced gum disease, and those recovering from multiple failed restorations.
Your candidacy depends on several factors that we assess during your consultation, including the following:
If you currently have teeth that need to come out before treatment can begin, we handle tooth extractions as part of your treatment plan so everything stays coordinated under one roof.
Full-arch treatment happens in planned stages, not all at once. Here is what the process generally looks like from start to finish:
Same-day temporary teeth mean you rarely leave without a functional smile, even while we fabricate the permanent restoration. Patients dealing with a sudden dental crisis alongside failing teeth can also reach out to us for emergency dentistry support while their full-arch plan comes together.
Recovery timelines vary, but most patients manage initial healing within one to two weeks with some swelling and mild discomfort. We provide clear aftercare instructions covering diet, oral hygiene around your temporary bridge, and activity restrictions during this window.
The implants need several months to fully integrate with the jawbone before we place your final bridge. During this healing phase, your temporary bridge lets you eat, speak, and go about your routine with a complete set of teeth. We schedule follow-up visits throughout this period to confirm healing is progressing as expected before moving forward with your permanent restoration.
Some patients also benefit from root canal treatment on adjacent teeth outside the treatment arch, which we coordinate as part of your broader oral health plan.
Dr. Bagley earned his DMD from Rutgers School of Dental Medicine and completed advanced General Practice Residency training at New York Medical College, giving him a strong foundation for coordinating the surgical and restorative sides of full-arch treatment. He takes time to walk patients through each option so you can make an informed decision about your care, rather than feeling rushed into a single path.
We also offer several ways to make full-arch treatment more manageable financially, including 0% financing options and a specialty payment plan starting from $40 a month with a discount on services. If you are ready to discuss whether All-on-4 or All-on-6 treatment fits your needs, reach out to our team to schedule your consultation.
